Baby 2024
Synopsis: Not recommended for viewers under 16. Baby, the second feature film by acclaimed director Marcelo Caetano, known for his work on Corpo Elétrico (2017), has been selected to participate in the 63rd Critics' Week at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. Baby is the nickname given to Wellington (João Pedro Mariano). Baby is a young man recently released from a juvenile detention center who finds himself lost on the streets of São Paulo. During a visit to a cinema focused on pornographic productions, he meets Ronaldo (Ricardo Teodoro), a male prostitute who takes Baby under his wing and is determined to teach him the tricks of the trade and new ways to survive. From then on, the two begin a tumultuous relationship, marked by conflicts between exploitation and protection, jealousy and complicity. Set in a vibrant urban environment, Baby explores the complexities of human connections and the challenges of reintegrating into society after a period of detention.
